5 Reasons Why Virtual Therapy is Better
Now that the pandemic is chilling out a bit some people are wanting to go back to in person therapy while others are preferring to remain online. Let me share with you some reasons my clients prefer to remain online even though in person is an option…
Accessibility
It can be hard to take the work off, to find the kids a sitter. It can be hard to get out of the house when you struggle with chronic illness or social anxiety. People in rural areas can easily access therapy when it is virtual. It also gives you a wider range of therapists to choose from, not nessesarily just the ones close to you. So finding a therapist you like, who takes your insurance and has availability just got so much EASIER!
Convenience
Want to wear pajamas to your session? Be our guest. There’s no need to leave the house with virtual sessions. It is much easier to fit a counseling appointment into a busy schedule when you eliminate the need to drive to an office. All you need is one hour. We’ve had clients go out to their car on their lunch break, go into the conference room at work, or put the kids down for a nap so they have an hour to dedicate to themselves.
Affordability
Thanks to the pandemic, many insurances now cover online therapy sessions! This makes the cost just as affordable as in person sessions…(and sometimes even more so.) I’ve been hearing about some Select Health plans even waiving the copay completely for virtual sessions.
Comfort
Stepping out of your comfort zone is hard, but doing it from the comfort of your own couch can help. Being in your own space during therapy can promote a sense of calmness and set your mind at ease, which is something invaluable during a session. Some people find it easier to open up in this setting.
Do Therapy On Your Terms
This whole process should be on your terms. Schedule appointments that fit with your schedule and your pocket book. When seeking therapy, you do so to benefit your mental health. Technology has made it so much easier for you to call the shots.
